Why am I here? What is my life for? How can I truly make a difference at this stage of my life? I think most of us have asked ourselves these questions at one point or another. But let me tell you this right now, no matter what you may be working on changing or struggling with personally, you matter. You matter to every single person you encounter every day! You are in this life for a reason. The fact that you woke up this morning means your life has purpose and meaning in this moment and your work here is not done.

Has anyone ever said something to you that only took a second, but lasted a lifetime? Let me tell you a couple of recent encounters I had that will give you examples of what I mean and how you never know from day to day how much you can impact and influence others in a positive way.

My husband and I flew to MN for our son’s wedding a couple weekends ago. We stayed at my sister’s home for part of our visit and she asked if I would go with her to her private Pilate’s class. I jumped at the chance as I used to teach the mat version of Pilates at the Y about 15 years ago. This version was the reformer Pilates which I had never done. It was also a chance to see the instructor, someone I used to know back then, so I was excited.

We arrived at her home and before we began she shared with me how she came to having her own Pilates business. Apparently (I did not recall this conversation) we were at a Y workshop for something and we were eating lunch at Applebees afterwards. She said I told her about my new passion, Pilates, and how it works with the breath and conditions the core. She said she credits that conversation with going on to pursue her Pilates passion and continuing to do what she loves today. This is just one example of how you never know how much you influence others without even knowing it. We were in that time and place together for a reason.

On that same trip, we stopped to visit a good friend of mine who I haven’t seen for many years. She has been following my work, reading my blogs and had taken my 10 Day Whole Person Detox Challenge. She said she hoped I was very successful because of how much I am helping others with the research and depth of my sharing.  I was touched and encouraged to keep going, especially now as I am re-starting my coaching practice. Even though I expressed my appreciation, I don’t think she realized just how much that meant to me and continues to sustain me as I work to build my business.

So the take away here is probably pretty obvious by now. You, being here on the planet right now, is by design. You may still have lessons to learn or challenges to overcome, but you can still make a positive difference for someone else, whether it’s a friend, family member or even a stranger today.

It’s the genuine compliments and encouragement you give to others, your passions shared, your kindness, your smiles, and your love. You may not be fully conscious of the impact you are making at the time, but your input or kind comments may matter to that person in a much bigger way than you may ever realize.
