Your hormones control your emotional well being, your weight, and your health. They work by sending chemical messages to the brain to regulate much of how you operate. When they are working properly, they are all connected and work together through your endocrine system. If one of these hormones fluctuates outside of “normal” levels, even just a little bit, you will feel it and it could impact your health in a major way.
Hormone imbalances show up in the form of weight changes, depression and anxiety, low sex drive, insomnia, digestive problems, and fatigue to name a few.
These imbalances are most often due to bad habits, such as drinking alcohol and smoking; eating a high-sugar and refined-carbohydrate diet; consuming dairy and often, gluten; not exercising enough; being exposed to environmental toxins; and being chronically stressed.
When imbalances occur, you may be tempted to take the easy route and get a prescription to “fix” the imbalance. There are two problems with this solution.
- These are primarily synthetic medications and you could become dependent on the drug.
- They are only a band aid and can cover up the symptoms without truly resolving them.
As an Integrative Wellness and Midlife Mastery Coach, I will always recommend a natural means to fixing hormonal imbalances. Thriving is possible at any age and it doesn’t always have to result from a pill.

It goes without saying that if you apply these natural solutions to your life and do them consistently most of the time, you will notice a significant difference in how you feel.
Unfortunately, many symptoms we come to accept as “normal” are just signs of hormonal imbalances and affects almost every woman, especially a woman in midlife.
